Business Technical Specialist


The successful candidate will have business side solid knowledge of Retail Investment Products (Mutual/Term funds, RRSP/RESP/GICs type of products).

  • Help defining strategic solutions to align with business vision
  • Analyze requirements and design solution with the following deliverables:
  • Create application architecture and design documents
  • Provide development cost and help consolidate project sizing
  • Help define implementation plans
  • Provide input to the business requirements
  • Identify dependencies between various initiatives on an ongoing basis
  • Support project teams and senior technical specialists during project execution
  • Provides knowledgeable guidance to the Technology head to resolve conflicts of technical nature
  • Make technology and architecture recommendations
  • Represent the line of business at the various architecture/technology governance forums and seek architecture/technology approvals
  • Coach /Mentor junior technical staff in the team
  • In-depth knowledge of Mainframe technologies and some knowledge of Java/J2EE.
  • Good knowledge of architecture/design patterns and technology best practices
  • Possesses good leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of retail investment products industry would be a good asset
  • Possesses solid relationship management and communication skills
  • Work with minimum supervision
  • Be able to co-ordinate effort from different teams ( Project Management, Business Analyst, Infrastructure, Vendors)

Director - HR & Financial Systems


The successful candidate will combine technical skills with business knowledge and processes and exceptional people management skills.

  • Direct the scope, budget and delivery of Human Resources and central financial initiatives
  • Provide advanced subject matter expertise on Human Resource system and Financial system
  • Manage the HR system and Financial System product roadmap ensuring software development adheres to Technology Services strategy and core competencies
  • Evaluate complex business requirements and intrinsically understand the implications and efforts involved to deliver upon them
  • Develop relationships with key vendors and customers (both internal and external) via formal and informal channels
  • Innovate with creative ideas to further improve the products and services offered by the department
  • Understand the organizationís global strategy and devise appropriate technology plan(s) to support it
  • Evangelize the role and competency of Technology Services to the organization-at-large
  • Drive research into new technology products and services
  • Negotiate contracts with a global focus
  • Continually assess/re-assess competitive positioning and devise strategies to leverage strengths and/or eliminate weaknesses
  • Represent Technology Services in public forums (Customer Advisory Boards, Case Studies, Reference calls, etc)
  • Contribute innovation and opinion to departmental and general business matters
  • Establish and build trust with Technology Services peers

  • Advanced understanding of computing systems
